MapInfo Corp. Awards ICW During the Annual Americas Partner Conference held at MapInfo’s headquarters in Troy, NY, ICW received the prestigious award as the State and Local Government Partner of the Year for 2003. Although MapInfo has presented awards for outstanding performance amongst partners for years, this award represents a new and important category for MapInfo. Another Success At The Second Annual GeoElections Conference Professonals from across the State of Florida converged upon the ICW corporate offices to attend the 2nd Annual GeoElections Conference. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to professionally network and participate in technical sessions to expand upon their knowledge in the use of GIS to address some of the mission critical tasks of the office. Guest speaker David Watson provided an engaging discussion focused on the interoperability of GeoElections with Voter Focus. Other topics included a review of new features in the GeoElections suite of software including Advanced SQL and MapInfo Professional along with building text layers and use of the GeoElections WebTools Control Panel and Client Side modules. During the Open Session, attendees volunteered numerous suggestions for product enhancements along with topics and activities that might be incorporated into next year’s conference. One of several suggestions for product enhancement has been implemented since the conference and is discussed in the next column. ICW Adds TEXT ONLY VERSION To GeoElections WebTools The innovative web mapping application ICW designed meets Section 508 of the the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Yet, in the spirit of excellence ICW has introduced a Text Only Version (TOV) to help their clients continue to connect with an expanding audience. Consistent with the innovation expected of ICW developers, the TOV has earned the maximum AAA rating from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). This achievement in application design permits ICW clients to display the AAA rating badge on the web pages that meet these standards. |
Kristian Gilbert is promoted to Chief Conference Manager for ICW. Gilbert joined ICW as the resident instructor in June of 2002. Since that time he has demonstrated an outstanding grasp of the business and customer issues in the market space in which ICW operates. Gilbert has designed both course ware and curriculum for ICW client application training. He also was the principal designer of the GeoElections WebTools Lesson Plan For Teacher Use which is accessible from the Just For Teachers icon illustrated here and located at the bottom of the web page. |
